BRE features in Rio+20 agenda

At the Rio+20 environmental summit in Brazil later today, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between Brazilian and UK governments to strengthen science and research ties between the two countries. One likely outcome of this is the creation of a BRE Innovation Park in Brazilia.

BRE’s Head of International Affairs, Orivaldo Barros, will be giving a presentation about the proposed flagship Innovation Park project, PISAC* at 4pm Brazil time (8pm UK time) in the UK Pavilion at the Rio +20 World Sustainability Summit. This will be followed by the signing of the MoU by the Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Marco Antonio Raupp and the Chief Scientific Advisor for the UK Government, Sir John Beddington.

Also at the summit is Jelena Kiselova from the BRE offices in Wales, who has been selected by the British Consulate to represent ‘Youth’ at the Summit.

The BRE stand in the UK Pavilion promotes our world leading research and our internationally respected environmental assessment method, BREEAM. Publications covering the use of BREEAM at the London 2012 Olympic venues are displayed in the Paviliion, and will be available online from www.brebookshop.com
