Sustainable Refurbishment - Environment

This detailed half day course provides guidance on the environmental issues that need to be addressed when carrying out sustainable refurbishment. The subjects covered include water, drainage, waste, occupant engagement, outdoor areas and wildlife.

The course will explain water saving strategies using the water usage calculator and guidance on drainage systems and SUDS. We will explain waste management, both in terms of reducing construction waste during refurbishment, and also provisions for domestic waste. Our experts will provide practical ideas on how to engage occupants during the refurbishment process, and how to provide useful guides on how occupants can get the most from the refurbished homes and newly installed systems.

External environmental issues are covered, for example the provision of gardens and play areas and importantly how to deal with protected species like bats and newts.
