  • We deliver value to our customers through profitable and sustainable solutions.

We are committed to facilitating positive change at all levels to ensure that the built environment reflects both the current and future needs of our communities. We aim to:

  • Inspire and empower colleagues and our wider community to improve sustainability

Our structure

We are governed by the BRE Group Board of Directors, made up of experienced senior business leaders, who guide, review and approve BRE Group’s business plans that are developed by the Executive Team.

We are wholly owned by the charity BRE Trust whose governance model is adopted from the Charity Governance Code for larger charities. BRE supports the work of BRE Trust by bringing the benefits of applied research – in the form of digital products, standards, testing and certification, training and qualifications – to key sectors in the built environment.

We put sustainability at the core of our operations

Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of our work. We champion decarbonisation in fair and just way, supporting our customers and wider stakeholders to avoid adverse environmental impacts and maximise positive impacts.

Our holistic approach reflects topics and principles covered in BREEAM such as energy and carbon, materials and circular economy, water, resilience, biodiversity, health and wellbeing, travel and accessibility.

We comply with internationally recognised management systems such as ISO14001 environmental management, ISO 45001 occupational health and safety, and ISO 9001 quality management. We also maintain the UK Government backed Cyber Essentials Plus certification and are committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest.

We are committed to facilitating positive change at all levels and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) - a plan agreed to by all world leaders to build a greener, fairer, better world by 2030.

We are forward thinking, diverse and inclusive

We have built a diverse and inclusive work environment, with a proactive health and safety culture.

We have a zero-tolerance approach towards discrimination, bullying and harassment and we are committed to appointing, developing, and rewarding colleagues fairly and objectively.

As a signatory to BITC’s Race at Work Charter, we aim to improve the quality of opportunity for Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse people.

We promote two-way engagement and actively listen to our colleagues’ views through individual and team meetings, surveys, colleague networks, and our ‘Ask the CEO’ channel.

Our colleague networks provide a safe and collaborative space for discussing honest perspectives to help foster understanding and mutual respect for our differences.

We are committed to promoting an open and transparent culture that encourages anyone to speak up if they see or believe misconduct is happening or is likely to occur.
