BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment Assessor Training Course - Online Training - This event has already finished

8 January 2018
BRE Academy, Watford

Online price £895.00 per person, plus VAT

Details :

The online course is the equivalent of two days face to face training with an additional exam that can be taken from one month after completing the training course. The training will introduce you to the BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment scheme and the assessment process. The modules are structured so that you will complete them over a four week period in preparation for a classroom examination.

Launched in 2012, the BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment scheme provides a methodology, software tool and certification for those responsible for delivering sustainable domestic refurbishment projects. It is designed to help building owners and occupiers to save on operating costs, reduce the environmental impact of refurbishments and to increase the sustainability of existing building stock. Further information on the scheme can be found here: www.breeam.com/domrefurb

Delivered through a mixture of online presentations, directed reading and exercises, you will be taken on a journey through the BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment assessment process, gradually building up your knowledge and confidence towards becoming an assessor.

This scheme uses calculation tools which run in MS Excel with macros. Macintosh computers are unable to use this function and you will need access to a PC to complete assessments.

Key learning outcomes:

  • Understanding the role of the assessor.

  • Approaching assessment with the mind-set of an assessor.

  • Gain an understanding of sustainable refurbishment and the refurbishment market.

  • Learning the technical aspects of the manual and applying it to a case study.

  • The assessment process and support structures in place for the scheme and assessors.

  • A brief overview of Health & Safety and Building Regulations in a refurbishment context.

The exam day starts by taking you through the post refurbishment assessment process and gives you an opportunity to address any questions you might have before taking the necessary exam to gain the BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment Assessor qualification. On this day you are required to bring approved photo ID. Without this you will not be admitted to the examination.

This course requires completion of all online content, followed by an assessment of competence before you can participate in the examination.  Therefore, the last booking date for this course will be three weeks prior to course commencement to allow you enough time to complete the pre-course work.
