BREEAM UK Non-domestic Refurbishment and Fit-out 2014 now provides the route to assess these buildings. It replaces BREEAM 2008 and 2011 for refurbishment projects and is specifically designed for refurbishment and fit-out projects.
As a top up to your qualification, licensed BREEAM new construction assessors can undertake a 30 hour on-line training course. This will be followed by a one and a half hour exam at BRE Watford.
The new scheme provides opportunities for assessors in the refurbishment and fit-out market. This is due to a modular approach, which allows a flexible yet robust assessment. Projects are assessed against the issues, which they can reasonably influence within their scope of works. All within a scheme that allows comparability and transparency of performance across the property market.
The scheme works directly alongside BREEAM New Construction 2014, allowing the first fit-out of shell only and shell and core projects to gain ‘Fully fitted’ certification under the New Construction 2014 scheme.
Our goal is to deliver high calibre, informative and engaging content that will develop delegates into knowledgeable and capable assessors. BREEAM Refurbishment and fit-out delegates will be immersed into blended online learning, delivered through online workshops, interactive discussions, with a final exam for certification. Upon the successful completion of this process, they will be fully qualified BREEAM Non-domestic Refurbishment assessors. This scheme uses some calculation tools which run in MS Excel with macros. Macintosh computers are unable to use this function and you will need access to a PC to complete assessments.

This is a self-directed study programme - a fast track route to qualification, and is entirely self taught. If you would prefer the opportunity to ask questions and gain a thorough understanding from trainers, the full course would be of more benefit as this is not available within this existing assessor top up course.

Prerequisites to attend this course:
Delegates must be qualified in BREEAM UK New Construction and must hold an active license in one of the following: public, commercial, bespoke or multi-residental.
Please note: If you qualified in New Construction before 2008, it is recommended that you complete the full course - as you will be examined on the full scope of public, commercial, bespoke and multi-residental. This will provide you with the best opportunity to acheive your qualification.
This top-up fast track option has been designed to reduce the cost and time impact to business, and is ideal for those who are confident in self-learning and taking examinations, having kept up to date with the latest changes in all licensing sectors for UK New Construction.
Please note that once qualified, to offer and carryout BREEAM assessments through to certification you or your organisation must hold the relevant BREEAM licence. To become licensed, all assessors/assessor organisations are required to hold a minimum level of professional indemnity insurance. Furthermore, depending on the scheme chosen, there may be an annual fee payable to BRE Global to hold the required BREEAM licence.
