BIM is often seen as a complex task – let us demystify the process, and help you become an experienced client.

BIM Level 2 places responsibilities and actions on the client. For this process to be effective and for all parties to get the best opportunities and outcomes for their project, the client must be well informed and confident with BIM.

This two day classroom course is structured to encourage learning through practical examples and case studies, with plenty of opportunities for discussion and questions.

At the end of this course you will be able to understand and implement:

  • BIM Maturity levels

-  HMG Government Construction Strategy and BIM Level 2

  • Through relevant case studies

  • Asset Information Requirements

-  Government Soft Landings

  • Client’s input into the project
  • Handover documentation

-  Commercial and Procurement considerations of Employers Information Requirements (EIRs)

  • Plain language questions (getting the brief right)

-  BIM Execution Plan Assessment & Contract Award

  • Standards, Methods and Procedures

-  Review and Authorisation of the Common Data Environment (CDE) Information

  • Employer’s Decision Points;
  • COBie (data storage for exchange)
  • Authorising Information

Event programme

This course will enable you to:

  • Define BIM Level 2
  • Understand the contextual requirement for BIM Level 2nd its connection to the Government Construction Strategy and Industrial Strategy
  • Have confidence to use the strategic implications and value proposition of BIM within your team/department
  • Clarify the management and exchange of information between supply chain members and clients as described in PAS1192.3:2014
  • Be aware of the legal and commercial implications of BIM Level 2


This course has a short test at the end of Day two to confirm learning objectives have been met. Successful completion of this test will enable you to join BRE Academy’s BIM Membership.

Pre-course reading:

Prior to attending this course it is advised that you read through the government document PAS 1192-2, which is provided for your reference when booking onto this course. You will also be supplied with other reading materials that will be of benefit to you when implementing BIM as a client.
