Amendments to Certificates of Design

Within the Members Area of the BRE website there is a facility to amend Certificates of Design.  This facility should only be used when a data entry error has been made or if the original certificate has been lost.

For minor design changes  (e.g. a change to the type of front door used) where there is no change to the original calculation (e.g. SAP or SBEM), you should write to your client and/or the building standards department of the relevant local authority to confirm that there has been no change to the building's compliance.  You do not have to amend or re-issue the original certificate.

For all other design changes  (e.g. a change of floor, wall, roof, etc) you should issue a new certificate of design.  Please review sections 4.1.13 to 4.1.18 of the Building Standards Division Certification Handbook for clarification.  You can find this at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Building/Building-standards/profinfo/cert/certhandbook/certhbdoc
