Construction Lean Awareness Workshop (CLAW)

A training session designed to help your company learn the principles of lean, applied through CLIP and make a real difference.

Lean construction is not about making cuts and squeezing more out of what's left. The lean approach minimises those activities that do not add to customer value, leaving more time for those that do. Lean allows you to cut costs and improve performance, a must for those wishing to stay one step ahead in the current marketplace.

CLIP's Construction lean awareness workshops are vital to those who wish to fully understand the advantages available from lean construction techniques.  Much has been written about lean construction and there is a great deal of confusion about the principles.  This training session has been designed to cut through the confusion and get to the heart of the issues and how the principles of lean, applied through CLIP, can make a real difference to your own situation. This is not a generic seminar session, but an intensive, practical training day where you will leave better equipped to manage your future in a more effective way.  You will learn how the CLIP programme can assist in reducing costs, eliminating waste and delivering projects on time.  CLIP is managed by BRE, the construction industry's premier independent provider of solutions in research, consultancy, testing and certification.

What you will get out of Construction Lean Awareness Workshops (CLAW)

  • An understanding of the power of lean principles and how their application can create greater profitability without simply 'cutting costs'
  • An awareness of how lean thinking and applying CLIP principles will directly benefit your own business and construction operations
  • An ability to identify opportunities to apply lean thinking principles where they will be most effective
  • Full understanding of how CLIP works and how to access its resources and support.

In detail the Construction Lean Awareness Workshops (CLAW) will cover:

  • Why lean is not the same as "mean" and that introducing lean does not mean wholesale restructuring
  • Fundamental concepts - process, waste, value - explained in a 'jargon-busting' way
  • Case studies and practical examples from construction - 'why it can work for us' - the lessons from CLIP companies
  • Tools to use such as collaborative planning, waste identification, plan to protect
  • The importance of team working and leadership
  • Why you need to enlist the help of your suppliers, and how to do it
  • Ensuring that lean is embedded in the company strategy
  • How to help your people cope with change
  • How lean "meshes-in" with other best practice themes
