Waste management tools and training
The benefits - in terms of money, the environment and regulation compliance - of good waste management are clear, but expert help is often needed to achieve them. In addition to a range of consultancy services, we offer waste management training courses and have developed a series of web-based tools designed to help you identify, minimise, manage and recycle waste materials and products of all kinds:
SMARTWaste Plan - a free-to-use (free in the UK only) tool designed to help you prepare, implement and review site waste management plans which are a legal requirement in England for construction projects over £300,000. It can also be used to meet waste requirements under BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
SMARTWaste Membership Scheme - provide the opportunity for new and existing SMARTWaste Plan users to benefit from a greater level of flexibility, reporting and support in preparing and implementing your site waste management plans. It provides three levels of membership; Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each level provides a range of additional benefits and SMARTWaste services to help your company get the very most out of SMARTWaste Plan, including Advanced Training, improvements and updates to SMARTWaste Plan, technical guidance, and additional reporting.
smartER (Environmental Reporting) - included in the SW membership scheme, a new add-on to the SMARTWaste Plan Tool which provides users with the ability to capture and monitor onsite energy consumption (Electricity, Gas, Fuel use), water consumption and the procurement of certified timber. smartER also provides users with the ability to target energy and water consumption on site inline with BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes requirements
True Cost of Waste Calculator - is free to use and will help you determine the embodied carbon of your wasted materials on your sites and the carbon impact related to waste management. The true cost of your waste based on the material, labour and disposal costs is also shown. Go to www.wastecalculator.co.uk to find out more details.
SMARTAudit - identifies the type and amount of waste products generated on site, their sources, what they cost, the associated work package and how to reduce them.
BREMAP - enables you to find the nearest waste management facilities by simply typing in your post code. It details recycling sites, reclamation companies, community schemes, composting facilities, manufacturer take-back schemes, transfer stations, incinerators and landfill sites. Go to www.bremap.co.uk to find out more.
SMARTWaste.co.uk - this website provides full details of all our waste management services and tools.
Training - we offer regular training courses on site waste management plans and other issues, along with tailor-made training for companies.
