Solar Water Heating
Solar water heating systems (also known as solar thermal systems) use energy from the sun to heat water for your hot water or space heating needs.
Like solar panel systems they are very straightforward to install onto your home, business or school. In an average home a solar water heating can provide about a third of your hot water demand and could reduce energy bills by approximately £65 a year.
Solar thermal systems consist of collectors - tubes or flat plates that are mounted on the roof. They absorb radiation from the sun and heat the fluid contained within the tubes or flat plate. A pump moves the fluid around the system to the heat exchanger, where the heat from the fluid is transferred to the water in the hot water tank.
