Designing to the Code for Sustainable Homes
Designers delivering to the Code for Sustainable Homes are presented with a range of challenges whether aspiring to meet social housing requirements or the demanding target of Zero Carbon, these challenges can affect the outcome of the Code assessment and level that is awarded. The BRE Training course ‘Designing to the Code for Sustainable Homes' provides designers and those new to the Code with a cutting edge insight of how to implement new and innovative ways for achieving the Code level that a client has specified.
The course outlines the strategy for successful Code implementation from a design perspective enabling delegates to consider Code issues at an early stage to reduce the risk of costly re-designs and remedial work on site.Held over three days at BRE Watford, the course is structured according to the stages of the construction project. The course is very interactive and provides practical examples and demonstrations of how you can avoid expensive and inefficient approaches to the Code and successfully deliver to a clients specification.
The course includes a workshop where delegates work in teams using an Energy tool and a selection of Code for Sustainable Homes calculator tools to actively design a Code Level 4 home. The course also includes a comprehensive technical visit of the renowned BRE Innovation Park which demonstrates how the theory of the Code has been translated by various developers.
The course is intended for all those who are involved in the design of homes. However, a practicing Code Assessor with design experience may already have knowledge at this level.
