Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network secures funding until 2012

The MBE-KTN is delighted to announce that it has secured a further three years of funding from the Government's Technology Strategy Board. The funding will enable the network to build on its success in stimulating increased innovation across the whole built environment supply chain for real business benefit. 

The MBE-KTN is delivered by a partnership that includes BRE, CIRIA, BSRIA and Arup. Since its inception in 2006 it has built up a 10,000-strong membership base from across the construction sector. It has helped:

• Broker new collaborations, partnerships & knowledge share
• Facilitate access to funding opportunities
• Showcase potential innovations

Deborah Pullen, Director of the MBE-KTN said   ‘We are delighted to secure a further three years funding - it will enable us to increase the membership base and offer continued support to the sector that has been hardest hit by the recession'

Specific areas that the MBE-KTN Phase 2 will focus on are

• Climate change Adaptation
• Energy and Carbon Efficiency
• Process Efficiency
• Refurbishment

What is the MBE KTN?

The Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network (MBE KTN) is a single, national, over-arching Knowledge Transfer Network for the Modern Built Environment.  The network brings together all organisations that make up the supply chains active in the built environment, such as businesses (suppliers and clients), universities, research and technology organisations, the finance community and government departments and agencies.  These organisations are brought together to take part in, or benefit from, a range of MBE KTN led activities aimed at enabling the exchange of knowledge and stimulating innovation across the built environment.

It operates through:

• An Industry Steering Group (ISG), led by Zara Lamont, OBE of Carillion plc, advising on the MBE KTN's development and direction, supporting communication of its results to the National Platform, industry and government
• A delivery team of BRE, BSRIA, CIRIA and Arup, with specific links to key academics and research communities. 
• Engagement groups with access to existing networks, membership based organisations and interest groups.
