EU Presidency endorses Green Buildings event

The Government has officially endorsed resource05 as the key low carbon buildings conference and exhibition of the UK's EU Presidency. High profile speakers at the three-day conference will include international experts in sustainable development, energy and renewables along with Ministers from the UK and EU.

As a flagship Presidency event resource05 will be the major forum for debating and responding to new initiatives, including the EU Green paper on Energy Efficiency, and the Government's plans for amending Part L and implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

'resource05 has an important role to play in showcasing new low carbon technologies and best practice from around the world. But it also provides the chance for delegates to feed their views back to Government on key issues, not least the DTI's consultation on microgeneration and low carbon buildings.' says David Strong, Managing Director of BRE Environment.  'We are delighted that the EU Presidency is endorsing the event and are confident that it will make an important contribution to the wider public debate. The UK is a driving force in the race to tackle climate change, and this conference will help to raise awareness of what can be done to encourage sustainable design and create more energy efficient, environmentally responsible buildings.'
