UK Construction Week: coming together

A new trade event for professionals working in every aspect of residential and commercial construction, planning and design opens this week with BRE as content partner. Created by Media 10, the company behind the successful Grand Designs exhibitions, UK Construction Week (6-8 Oct) comes at a time of significant growth and substantial challenge in the industry.

During the 3 days of the NEC, Birmingham event BRE has 8 speakers* contributing to the free seminar and debate programme from BRE Chief Scientist Jeremy Watson giving a view of where the industry is at with BIM Level 2 to BRE Wales Director Colin King advising how to deliver successful retrofit strategies. Hear also from our BRE Innovation Park partners Paul Surin, Wienerberger and pioneering zero carbon architect Bill Dunster who impart their vision on homes of the future and Peter Bonfield who shares initial findings from the energy efficiency review he is leading on for Government.

Visitors can also take part in a live demonstration of BRE’s health & safety reporting tool YellowJacket currently in use on over 6000 live construction projects and hear about the progress of our newly developed consumer mark for housing the Home Quality Mark.

BRE Group Business Development Director Miles Watkins said ‘Our industry faces challenging times – we need to deliver more homes, get to grips with digital construction, keep improving on our Health and Safety practices and develop new skills and ways of building that work better for people, the economy and the environment. This event gives all those working in the industry a great chance to come together and share knowledge and experience, learn new things and network with friends and peers. We are pleased to be a part of it.’

Visitors can also take part in our free, daily BIM prospects seminars which will demonstrate why adopting BIM helps your business to stay competitive, increase efficiencies, save time and reduce cost of your construction projects.

A section of Userhuus, the latest housing project to be launched on the BRE Innovation Park is on display in Hall B. Hear from designer Michael Brooke how construction time on the project was reduced from the industry average 16 weeks to just 8.

The BRE stand at UK Construction Week can be found in Hall B3/639. Register for free in advance.
