Saddle up for Cycle to Work Day

Cycle to Work Day takes place on 4 September and workers and residents across Hertfordshire are being encouraged to hop on their bikes and pedal their way to the office for the day.

BRE has an active green travel plan and works hard to encourage cycling amongst its 600+ staff. It recently claimed first prize in the ‘Big Herts Cycle Challenge’, a Hertfordshire County Council initiative which encourages cycling amongst local businesses. Over 70 members of BRE staff (12 per cent) commuted over 5,000 cycle miles during the challenge.

Stuart Blofeld, BRE sustainability manager and also keen cyclist commented: “Even the varying weather conditions haven't put our staff off cycling to work and it was great to see 18 new cyclists take part in the recent challenge. We provide shower and changing facilities for staff and a free monthly breakfast. As part of the Cycle to Work Day on 4 September we will be encouraging staff to cycle with the promise of Afternoon Tea as an added incentive.”
