Energy Performance Certificates is required for all the newly constructed dwellings. This creates a requirement for qualified and accredited assessors to prepare the certificates and the accompanying recommendations report.
BRE Training has developed a comprehensive programme of on-line distance learning and assessment leading to the Level 3 Diploma in On-construction domestic energy assessment.
Course programme – candidates must undertake all elements.
Event programme
Part One - Distance Learning
The on-line distance learning will give you the knowledge that you need to start assessing the energy performance of new dwelling designs, carry out the Building Regulations compliance calculations and produce the EPC. This includes learning materials, examples to work through and tests. You will have 8 weeks to complete all the distance learning modules. During this 8 weeks, there will be a discussion forum for delegates to post questions to the course tutor, discuss any issues with the course materials that you have during the study.

Part Two - Competence Assessment
Once training is complete you will move into a period of assessment where you will demonstrate the practical application of the skills you have learned and provide evidence of your ability to practise competently as a Building Energy Assessor. Through the 5 case studies provided by BRE Training, you will show that you have the full range of skills and knowledge required by the National Occupational Standards by carrying out energy assessments and submitting these for formal assessment. Training and assessment will be based on the use of approved SAP software. Access to software will be free for training and assessment.Domestic Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors experienced in the process of vocational assessment should be able to complete their qualifications in 2 to 4 months. Those new to vocational qualifications should allow 3 to 6 months, depending on the amount of time they are able to devote to the assessment programme. - You allocate sufficient time to prepare and complete the course materials before attending the examination (we expect this may take at least four to six weeks to complete but this will depend on your personal circumstances)
You MUST complete your Part 1 course materials before attending the Examination.
Part Three - ABBE Examination
The examination can be taken after the on-line training has been completed.
ABBE have announced that the DipOCDEA Level 3 exam is now available online. ABBE is working in partnership with Pearson Vue to provide online, on demand examinations for all relevant qualifications. The exam can be taken at 164 locations across the UK. The new system will provide an online booking system so candidates can choose a time and date to meet their individual needs at one of the examination venues.
