Details :

BRE Training is delighted to launch its Green Deal Advisor qualification programme. The Level 3 Diploma in Green Deal Advice has eight Units with a total of 47 credits. If you are already a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) or Approved Energy Certifier for Existing Dwellings in Scotland and have passed the recent Professional Development  Award (or Upskilling training in Scotland for Approved Energy Certifier for Existing Dwellings in Scotland) then you will already have covered Units 1 to 4 and therefore need to complete Units 5 to 8 (22 credits) to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Green Deal Advice.

We have developed an interactive and flexible learning and assessment programme that will provide you with an effective learning process which will:

  • Be at a pace and time to suit you
  • Minimise the amount of time taken in travel or out of the workplace.
  • Provide a mix of on-line learning, interactive workshops and hands on assessment which has been welcomed as very enjoyable and effective in several other BRE courses.

If you are already a DEA or an Approved Energy Certifier for Existing Dwellings in Scotland or have completed the course above then the Green Deal Advisor programme starts with an induction and a set of on-line modules to address the core learning. Undertake this at your own pace at a time to suit you and benefit from on-line quizzes and supporting materials as you go.

Event programme

The on-line modules include:

  • Induction and setting the scene
  • Details, principles, process and responsibilities of the Green Deal and participants
  • Technologies and applicable measures
  • Impact of occupant behaviour
  • Using software
  • Additional Funding
  • The Green Deal Advice Report

Two interactive workshop days will then be held at a BRE or partner venue to consolidate and extend the learning you have completed on-line and to take part in case study and workshop activities to develop your expertise. The workshops will address:

  • Barriers and problems
  • Combining measures
  • Occupant behaviour and education
  • Principles of energy efficiency
  • Preparation for assessment

A separate face to face assessment session will be held in which assessed role play will address the important aspect of demonstrating that you can communicate with householders to give clear and effective advice.

There will then follow a programme of assignment and portfolio work completed on-line and reviewed by your assessor which includes producing Green Deal Advice Reports. If you are not already a DEA/Approved Energy Certifier for Existing Dwellings in Scotland then this will be combined with the on-line portfolio based assessment process required for the domestic energy assessor aspects of the qualification which includes producing five EPCs.

BRE is well known for its expertise in sustainable domestic refurbishment and retro-fit and we draw considerable expertise of this into this course. This expertise combined with the excellent facilities and trainers from BRE and our partners will give you with one of the best available routes to becoming a Green Deal Adviser.

The programme is open to DEAs/Approved Energy Certifier for Existing Dwellings in Scotland and new entrants who have the skills and aptitude to become a Green Deal Advisor. In this regard the key issue is an ability to communicate effectively with members of the public in explaining Green Deal and energy efficiency issues and in giving clear and concise advice.
