Becoming MCS certified: Solar Photovoltaics
Ond day seminar to assist you in becoming certificated under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme
30 September 2010 - BRE Scotland, East Kilbride
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme has been operating since 2007 and has been shown to be raising quality levels in UK renewable energy installations. It is used by Government and other grant-giving bodies as a quality mark on which to rely when approving financial incentives for renewable energy installations.
To achieve this raising of standards, the scheme has to be robust, which means that becoming certificated is not a simple box-ticking exercise - it drills down to the fundamentals of how your installation business operates, as well as assuring a high level of technical competence.
This one day seminar has been designed to help you with the key aspects of becoming certified under MCS:
- Morning session: Quality Management Systems - Certification under MCS requires certain good business practices to be demonstrated to the assessor, including a set of operating procedures written by the installation company. This session will describe, with examples, exactly what is expected, and how these can make your business run more efficiently.
- Afternoon session: Technical requirements of PV installations complying with MCS - The technical session will cover the key issues which MCS assessors look for and how to avoid the common pitfalls. Some prior knowledge of the relevant microgeneration systems will be assumed in this session.
Whilst we cannot guarantee passing your MCS assessment*, this seminar will provide attendees with:
- a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of becoming certificated under the MCS scheme with BRE
- a clear idea of what is required to achieve certification and what are the next steps
- interactive class exercises to provide the basis of a Quality Plan specific to your business
- confidence in dealing with MCS certification
- an opportunity to question an MCS expert
*MCS Assessments are undertaken by UKAS-accredited certification bodies such as BRE Global and involve a visit to your company and an inspection of a sample installation.
The MCS standards are applicable to domestic and small commercial scale systems (up to 50kW electrical, 45kW heat).
More information on MCS assessments by BRE Global can be found at www.greenbooklive.com/microgen
