Becoming MCS certificated: Solar Water Heating (Solar Thermal)
One day seminar to assist you in becoming certificated under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme
15 September 2010 - BRE, Watford
To achieve this raising of standards, the scheme has to be robust, which means that becoming certificated is not a simple box-ticking exercise - it drills down to the fundamentals of how your installation business operates, as well as assuring a high level of technical competence.
This one day seminar has been designed to help you with the key aspects of becoming certificated under MCS:
- Morning session: Quality Management Systems - an essential ingredient. Certification under MCS requires certain good business practices to be demonstrated to the assessor, including a set of operating procedures written by the installation company. This session will describe, with examples, exactly what is expected, and how these can make your business run more efficiently
- Afternoon session: Technical requirements of Solar Thermal installations complying with MCS - The technical session will cover the key issues which MCS assessors look for and how to avoid the common pitfalls. Some prior knowledge of solar water heating installations will be assumed in this session.
This seminar will provide attendees with:
- An understanding of the benefits of becoming certificated under the MCS scheme with BRE
- A clear idea of what is required to achieve certification and what are the next steps
- The basis of a Quality Plan which is specific to your business via interactive class exercises
- Confidence in dealing with MCS certification
- Q&A with an MCS expert
MCS Assessments are undertaken by UKAS-accredited certification bodies, such as BRE Global, and involve a visit to your company and an inspection of a sample installation.
The MCS standards are applicable to domestic and small commercial scale systems (up to 50kW electrical, 45kW heat).
More information on MCS assessments by BRE Global can be found at www.greenbooklive.com/microgen
