East Midlands innovation: The Greening of Concrete - This event has already finished

FREE interactive breakfast briefing - opportunity to access funding

23 February 2010 - Loughbough University

Details :

The East Midlands with its endowment of rock, sand and gravel resources was the cradle in the late 19th Century for the development of the modern concrete industry. It continues to be a very important hub for concrete products and raw materials. Indeed the largest precast concrete plant in Europe is currently being commissioned at the former Steetley Colliery site in Nottinghamshire.

This event provides an update on what the cement and concrete industry is doing nationally and in the East Midlands to improve its sustainability profile.

Presented by members of the sector wide Concrete Industry Sustainable Construction Forum this event will present delegates with new data and case studies that make a strong case for the UK's concrete industry, rivaling other materials to be leaders in the green materials stakes. The event should also cover progress on the "More for Less" strategy for the precast concrete sector.

This event should be of benefit to different partners within the downstream of the industry's supply chain (including consultants, developers, specifiers, and contractors). The event should also be of benefit to other construction sectors working towards a sector wide sustainability scheme.
