What is the iFestival?

The iFestival is an annual celebration of the positive impact of creative thinking on businesses, universities and the wider community. Organised by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) with the support of East Midlands Innovation (the Regional Science and Industry Council), this year's iFestival will run from 10 March - 17 April and features over 100 events to showcase and inspire innovation success stories. Business innovation is a particularly important way of fostering a healthy and sustainable regional economy.

Why Come?

  • For the chance to find out about and tour the site of the Sustainable Construction iHub: a multimillion-pound building that will feature offices for up to 60 businesses, exhibition space and community facilities
  • To find out about current trends and impending regulations which are shaping the development of construction products and technologies
  • Sustainable Construction iNet advisors will be on hand to provide assistance in developing and implementing new products, processes and services
  • Dedicated grants are on offer to help your business to become more innovative
  • This is a valuable opportunity to network and build new links with key contacts in construction technologies, regional supply chains and the support and funding bodies.

What is the Sustainable Construction iNet?

iNets are organisations that help businesses to become more innovative in order to become more profitable.  Investment in innovation is also a means of securing long term prosperity for businesses and the regional economy as a whole.  iNets offer funding, expertise and networking opportunities in pursuit of these goals.

What is the Sustainable Construction iHub?

The iHub building will lead the way in sustainable construction as an icon of cutting edge technologies in this sector.  The iHub will house up to 60 regional businesses in incubator facilities, a 300 seat conference room and exhibition space.  The Sustainable Construction iNet will be based at the iHub, once built.  Architects competed to design the building, and the winner Consarc was announced in June 2008.  The project is being funded by emda, West Northamptonshire Development Corporation and the European Regional Development Fund.

*The Sustainable Construction iNet is a business-led innovation network
