Developing District Heating in the UK
There is increasing recognition of the benefits of this future proof infrastructure in the battle against climate change and fuel poverty. District heating networks offer a fuel flexible approach to decarbonising the heat supply of buildings and dwellings in high density areas. While upfront investment costs may be significant, the annual cost of providing heat is invariably lower than alternative options, particularly where a source of waste heat exists.
This one-day conference examines the role of district heating in the context of the UK Heat and Energy Saving Strategy. Delegates will learn how heat networks can be developed by building lasting partnerships with private sector companies or establishing local community based energy services companies.
International experts will provide feedback on how schemes are developed in Scandinavia and use case studies to highlight how renewable heat sources can be integrated into networks.
