Building a better world

BRE Annual Conference 2009
Globalisation ... meeting the world's needs

The 2009 BRE Annual Conference took place in London on 19 May.

Global markets are now an ever-present factor in the planning and decision taking of business. As the impact of turbulence in financial markets continues to wash through the economy, businesses need to be increasingly flexible and ambitious in the markets in which they wish to succeed; including diversifying away from previously safer domestic markets to more challenging global ones.

Speakers and their presentations:

  • The event was chaired by Sir Neville Simms, currently Chairman of International Power, and also Chairman of the BRE Trust
  • David Mackay, Professor, Physics Dept, University of Cambridge.
Although Professor Mackay's slides are not available here, his presentation was based on his book, which you can view online (for free) at this link: www.withouthotair.com/
  • Richard Gillies, Sustainable Development, Marks & Spencer.
